A special open lecture was recently held with students from the Master’s Degree in Computer Science Education at the University of Minho, dedicated to exploring the educational possibilities of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) in Higher Education.
During the session, participants reflected on how immersive technologies can enrich university learning environments by creating more interactive, engaging, and student-centred educational experiences.
The discussion went beyond the exploration of digital tools and focused on key pedagogical questions, including:
🔹 How AR and VR can support meaningful and active learning
🔹 The importance of intentional instructional design when integrating immersive technologies
🔹 Creating engaging educational experiences that place students at the centre of learning
🔹 The transformative role of digital innovation in Higher Education
The session provided an excellent opportunity to connect theory with practice and to explore how emerging technologies can contribute to the future of teaching and learning.

A sincere thank you to Professor Pedro Henriques and Cristiana for the invitation and the opportunity to share experiences, ideas, and innovative educational practices.

Together, we continue to explore how immersive technologies can inspire the next generation of educators and learners.
