As part of their community engagement activities, students in Croatia took part in a meaningful volunteering initiative supporting elderly members of their local community. Through conversations, social activities, and shared experiences, students and seniors had the opportunity to learn from one another and build valuable intergenerational connections.
These activities help reduce social isolation among older adults while encouraging young people to develop empathy, communication skills, and a sense of social responsibility. Volunteering with seniors is widely recognized as an important way to strengthen community ties and promote active citizenship.
The initiative reflects the values promoted by Erasmus+ projects: solidarity, inclusion, cooperation, and learning through real-life experiences. By giving their time and energy to support others, students contribute to creating a more caring and connected society.
