If you’re looking for a new show to binge-watch, Hulu’s “The Great” is a must-see.
The series is a fictionalized account of the rise of Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia, and it is truly a great watch. The Great stars Elle Fanning as Catherine and Nicholas Hoult as her husband, Peter III. It is a hilarious, yet sometimes heartbreaking, story of Catherine’s transformation from an innocent and naive princess to an iron-fisted ruler. While it is based on a true story, the show is a dramatized version of events and creates its own unique take on the historical narrative. Telling „an almost entirely untrue story”.
The show is filled with witty dialogue, plenty of drama and scandal, and a talented cast of characters. Fanning and Hoult both do an excellent job of conveying the complexity of their characters’ lives and the challenges they faced.
