At Henryk Sienkiewicz School Complex No. 1, a ceremony was held to summarize and conclude the cooperation with senior citizens carried out as part of the Erasmus+ / KA220-VET – Cooperation Partnerships in Vocational Education and Training project entitled “The Power of AR and VR: Igniting Passion for Learning Through Innovative Technologies” (2024-1-PL01-KA220-VET-000243150).

The Senior Citizens’ Club in Kołobrzeg actively participated in the project activities, whose main objectives were to develop digital competences, promote innovative teaching methods, and strengthen intergenerational relationships through joint educational and social initiatives. The project focused on the use of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies, online safety, combating disinformation and fake news, and adapting education to the needs of today’s labour market.

The seniors took part in all project activities with great enthusiasm and commitment. They eagerly explored new technologies, used VR headsets, participated in workshops and discussions on digital safety, and shared their life experiences with young people. Their openness, active involvement, and willingness to learn inspired all project participants and proved that education and personal development have no age limits.

A particularly important event was the “Civic Engagement Day – The Power of AR and VR”, which took place in November 2025 at Adebar in Kołobrzeg as part of the LTT mobility programme. Project partners together with their students from Turkey, Croatia, Portugal, Lithuania, and Greece participated in the event, giving it a unique international dimension. It provided an excellent opportunity for exchanging experiences, sharing good practices, and fostering integration among participants from different European countries. The meeting promoted both intergenerational and intercultural cooperation and understanding.

Students volunteering from Class 1A of School Complex No. 1 were also actively involved in the project events. As always, they devoted their time, kindness, and energy to spending meaningful moments with the seniors. The event included engaging conversations, solving Rubik’s Cubes, learning through play, and many moments filled with smiles and a warm atmosphere.

Among the participants was Julia Markiewicz, a student of Class 1A and the winner of the Miss Teenager of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship 2026 competition, who is actively involved in volunteer work. Despite her success, Julia remains a humble, empathetic, and kind-hearted young person who is always ready to support others.

We would like to sincerely thank all the seniors for their presence, commitment, and the wonderful time spent together. We believe that the relationships built, experiences gained, and memories created during the project will remain with us for a long time and inspire future initiatives that bring generations together.

The project coordinator is Ms Agnieszka Emerle, the supervisor of the Senior Citizens’ Club at Henryk Sienkiewicz School Complex No. 1 in Kołobrzeg is Ms Małgorzata Rogoża, and Mr Jacek Kawałek is responsible for AR and VR technology training.
