Every fan of Star Wars has probably dreamed at least once of stepping into the movie world and feeling like they are part of the story. The good news is that many iconic places from the saga are not purely fictional. Even Naboo was brought to life using real locations on Earth- and you can actually visit them today. It turns out Naboo isn’t as unreal as it looks on screen.

Lake Como, Italy- Villa del Balbianello

Lake Como is one of the most famous filming areas for Naboo scenes. On its shore stands Villa del Balbianello, a stunning villa surrounded by gardens and water. This is where some of the most romantic scenes in Attack of the Clones were filmed, including moments between Anakin and Padme- often associated with their relationship development and wedding atmosphere. The place feels peaceful, cinematic, and almost exactly like Naboo in the movies.

Seville, Spain – Plaza de España

Plaza de España in Seville was used to represent the royal and political atmosphere of Naboo’s capital. Its huge semi-circular design, canals, and bridges give it a grand, almost royal feeling. Many exterior shots of Naboo’s capital city were inspired by this location, making it feel like a real-life version of Theed.

Caserta, Italy – Royal Palace

Royal Palace of Caserta is one of the largest royal palaces in Europe and was used for the interior scenes of Naboo’s royal palace.Walking through its marble halls and massive staircases feels like entering a royal world. It perfectly matches the elegant and political side of Naboo shown in the films.
