If you have been thinking about visiting London, October might be the perfect time to go. Flights can be really cheap, so you can easily plan a weekend trip without spending too much money. Autumn in London is really atmospheric. The colourful leaves, cloudy skies and rainy days give the city a unique vibe. I actually think that the rain suits London perfectly and makes walking around the city even more enjoyable. I visited London last year and really enjoyed it there is something interesting to see around almost every corner.
Of course, one of the first places that comes to mind is Big Ben. Interestingly, Big Ben is not actually the name of the tower. Its official name is Elizabeth Tower, while Big Ben is just the nickname. The tower was completed in 1859 and quickly became one of the most recognisable symbols of London. The origin of the nickname is not completely certain. One popular theory says that it was named after Sir Benjamin Hall, who was involved in the work on the bell.

Another must-see is Tower Bridge, one of the most famous bridges in the world. You can walk across it, admire its unique design and enjoy a great view of the River Thames.

You should also visit Buckingham Palace, the famous London residence of the British royal family. If you are there at the right time, you can also see the traditional Changing of the Guard ceremony.

For a different view of the city, you can take a ride on the London Eye. From the top, you can see many of London’s most famous landmarks, which is especially beautiful around sunset.

And if you have some extra time, I would recommend simply walking around different parts of London and discovering places away from the main tourist attractions. Sometimes the small streets, cafés and old buildings are what make the city feel so special.
One last thing- if you are a fan of British music, London can be even more interesting. You can visit famous places connected with bands like Oasis or The Beatles, including locations from their album covers- and recreate them by yourself.
So, if you find a cheap flight this autumn and you have a free time, why not spend a weekend in London? I hope this post gave you some inspiration for your next trip. See you in my next post!
