This summer, I had chance to visit one of the smallest country in the world – Monaco. It’s tucked right between France and Italy and has a total area of only 2.1 km^2. Despite its tiny size, Monaco is incredibly wealthy. The people who live there come from families that have lived in Monaco for generations or are very rich. Apartments in Monaco are some of the most expensive in the world, so not many people can afford to live there. In fact, only 11% of the people who work in Monaco actually live there the rest of the people commute from nearby cities in France, mostly from Nice.

Speaking of expensive living, Monaco is home to Europe’s priciest apartment La Tour Odeon. In 2021, the penthouse was valued at 440 million dollars!

Monaco is a principality, which means it’s ruled by a prince – Prince Albert II.

Monaco is probably best known for Formula 1 Grand Prix. Every year they organized the most famous race in the wold. They actually turn the streets into a race track. People from all over the world come to watch. If your apartment in Monaco has even the tiniest view of the Formula 1 track, you can sell tickets to watch race from your home and make a lot of money.

Monte Carlo is a rich district filled with all kinds of expensive shops, clubs, and most importantly, casinos! This district is very famous for its casinos and luxury lifestyle, where the rich go to spend a lot of money. People don’t go to slot machines only on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Monaco is visited by many rich people, they usually arrive on their yachts and stay in Port Hercules. The price is just crazy – some people pay  €1,200 for a night just to park their yacht!

Monaco is small but worth visiting. If you don’t plan to spend the night at the casino, one day is enough to see everything. I think that it’s perfect place for a short trip.

See you in the next blog!
